Question:
first snippet of my coming of age novel, it’s a about a boy who discovers his sexual orientation, so he doesn’t know yet at this point. please read and comment!
I like girls. As a teenage boy i kind of feel obligated to. They’re practically all i hear about from day to day.
The guys in the locker room talk of nothing else and most of my friends have no interest in carrying out a meaningful
conversation anymore. It’s all about girls. Who’s dating the hottest one, who’s kissed the most of them, what they like, what
they don’t like. Guys parade them around like trophys. Due to the constant hype about them, it’s safe to say
females play a significant role in my life, even when there’s none around. Sure i find them interesting, fun to be around,
and even attractive, but hardly worth drooling over like a dog. Does this make me weird? Not really, just level headed. The
kind of guy the male population desperately needs.
As i observe the girls flitter down the school hallway tossing their glossy hair like shampoo models and swinging
their hips, the word intriguing comes to mind. Not sexy. By no means do i hate girls, but the ones in high school seem so
…shallow. Okay, that came off a bit harsher than i would’ve liked, but let me explain myself before you jump
to conclusions. They’ll spend three hours on their hair, but wont take a second to think before they mercilessly thrash their
“friends”. Oh no, not to their face. They act all buddy buddy when they see each other, then the minute one of them leaves
drama starts. Drama. Don’t even get me going on that. I’m not saying all girls are like this, but it doesn’t seem too many of
them care about anything except looks. By these standards i could probably land a girlfriend with little trouble, plenty of
girls stop to give me a second look. That’s all it it though. they’re only concerned about appearance, and i suppose i have
higher hopes. Not that i should be picky, girls don’t exactly come knocking at my door, but i should at least have a say in
this. Right?
;O I loooooove it! I demand more!
personally I think you have a great start. very believable. keep at it.
